The marshes, a maze of greenery
Protected since 2003, the 135 hectares of marshland stretch east of the centre, right in the city, and offer a real change of scene: canals, small huts, vegetable gardens inherited from the Middle Ages, pollarded willows and little bridges. You can glide through them on an electric boat from Pré Blanchet, or simply walk along the Yèvre. An unusual date, less than a kilometre from the cathedral, that makes you want to talk about the simple things straight away.
The Printemps de Bourges
Since 1977, the Printemps de Bourges festival has hosted every April the great voices of French song and discoveries from across the world, at the Palais d’Auron, in the venues of the centre and on the main stage. An evening shared among the warm crowd makes an intense date, where you later replay the show in whispers over a drink. The cafés of the centre keep the party going late into the night.
Lake Auron and Prés-Fichaux
To the west, Lake Auron offers a leisure base with summer swimming, pedal boats and paths for a gentle walk for two. To the north, the Art Deco Prés-Fichaux Garden lines up pergolas, pools and carefully clipped topiaries. On Lyad, members from Bourges share their favourite walks and stages; it is up to you to find someone to catch the next concert with.
